My recommendations for a Windows 11 Computer are as follows:
Dell or HP (Hewlett Packard).
Intel i5 or i7 processor (13th or 14th Generation).
16 or 32 GB of Memory (Better performance for multitasking and running demanding applications).
SSD or NVMe Hard Drive (512 GB or larger).
There are three main components you should be mindful of: processor, storage drive, and RAM. A good processor is the brains of the computer, and a lot of local storage means you'll have plenty of room for all your files.
Here are some general recommendations for a Windows 11 computer, including desktops, laptops, and All-in-One computers.
You want a Windows 11 computer with the following specifications:
Processor: A multi-core processor (i.e., Quad Core or 8 Core processor). There are 2 brands of processors: AMD and Intel. For a laptop or All-in-One Computer, I would recommend Intel either an i5 or i7 (13th/14th Generation) processor because they tend to run cooler than AMD. Since there is confined space in these devices, the processor running cooler is important.
Memory: In computing, memory refers to the computer hardware devices involved in storing information for immediate use. At least 16 GB of memory is recommended for a Windows 11 computer. Having more memory will increase the speed of the computer. 16-32 GB of memory and should be considered for photo and video editing.
Hard Drive: The size of a standard Hard Drive these days is 1 TB. Solid-state drives (SSDs) are starting to replace hard drives. These types of hard drives use a set of flash memory chips rather than a magnetic platter to store the data. They provide faster data access, lower power consumption, and higher reliability. So Solid State Drives will make your computer run faster.
Desktop, Laptop, or All-in-One: A desktop includes a traditional tower, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The advantage of a desktop is more power, a larger monitor, and easier replacement of components. The disadvantage is the cords for the tower, check and keyboard, Mouse, and the amount of space needed.
Laptop: A laptop provides a portable device for traveling. There are ultra-portable laptops that have smaller displays and lighter weight. There are also laptops that are less portable with larger displays (17 inches) and are replacements for normal desktop users.
An All-in-One (AIO): Provides CPU, Memory, Hard Drive, and Display in one Unit. The advantage is fewer cords and uses less workspace. Since an AIO has confined space, I recommend an Intel i5 or i7 processor.
Choosing a desktop, laptop or AIO depends on the importance of portability, space, and power. Touchscreen vs. non-touch: More applications and devices are using touch. If you want a PC with the latest technology, then consider touch.
Touchscreens will add more to the cost of a PC.
Brands: Generally, I recommend Hewlett Packard (HP) or Dell because of the quality of the components and the support.
Costs: Like anything, you get what you pay for. Be prepared to spend at least $600 to $800 or more on a decent computer. Since computer technology changes dramatically every 18 months, don't expect the computer to last more than 5 years.
